SantaCon is a world-wide event. SantaCon Montreal 2007 was on November 30th, 2007, starting at the Vieux Dublin Pub, 1219A University, Downtown.
SantaCon is not an official Burning Man event, but it is pretty popular with Burners world-wide. It was (is?) started by the Cacophony Society, who also helped start Burning Man.

Cheap Santa Suits
Burners interested in going to SantaCon in Montreal can find cheap Santa suits or other Santastic costumery at these fine outlets:
- Walmart. See especially this and this and this. Fine purveyor of cheaply-made goods. Low price around US$45.00. Walmart.com won't ship to Canada, though!
- Image In Accessoires, 34 Mont-Royal Est @ St. Laurent. Their Web site says they have "Costumes Père Noël, Mère Noël", but no details. Probably best bet for retail walk-in in the Plateau.
- Association des Pères Noëls, Longueil. They've got a basic costume for $89.99, which is pretty pricey. (Is the office on Av. Mont Royal still open?)
- Noël Eternel, 461 St-Sulpice Street, Old Port. Christmas store, no idea if it's got Santa costumes or not.
- 3wishes.com, on-line. Christmas-themed lingerie.
- OYa Costumes, on-line. Costumes in the CDN$30-$150 range, including some Mrs.-Santa miniskirts. Their warehouse is in Montreal, and you can go pickup there directly (see their shipping policy for other options).
- Century Novelty, on-line. Ranging from CDN$50 to about CDN$300. They also have other Christmas costumes if you feel like switch-hitting as an elf. "Orders shipped to Canada should be delivered within 4-8 business days depending on location," per their shipping policy.
- Santa Suits & More. A crapload of suits, but uncertain shipping policies.
If you're not crafty enough to make your own costume, you really want to buy one. Renting a suit is hard to do, and about twice as expensive as buying a cheap one. And you'll have to explain on Monday where all the bits and pieces went. And once you have your own Santa suit, you find yourself wearing it all the time -- it really is worth the money.
